Grapnel Anchor - Galvanised Steel

Popular folding grapnel style anchor available in a variety of weights.

Grapnel anchors work on a very simple principle, like a traditional grapple hook, the 4 tines open out to allow the anchor to secure a fixing on the sea-bed. It has a benefit in that, no matter how the anchor reaches the bottom, one or more of the tines will be aimed to set into the bed.

This anchor is made from cast steel which is hot galvanised which protects it from corrosion.

When not in use the anchor folds up neatly for compact storage, and the 4 tines hook under a securing ring around the the shaft to hold it together. A counterweight bar is fitted to the shank to improve balance. Due to its size and weight this type of anchor is ideal for kayaks, canoes, dinghies etc.

As a very rough guide work on 1.5kg per metre and adjust the weight of the anchor taking into consideration varying factors such as wider or taller than average boats, the water and weather conditions you will be sailing in as well the type of sea bed.
