Excellent pole sender unit with high level of accuracy and reliability.
These pole sender units are manufactured to exacting standards by the market leading Swedish company Wema. They are specially designed for black water holding tanks to monitor the level of the tank contents.
Why is this sender unit specifically for holding tanks? These senders have a protective shroud around the pole to ensure that the accuracy of the float is not affected by the contents of the tank. This shroud is removable should you ever need to service the sender unit.
How do they work? simple, the pole reaches down inside the tank. On the pole is a compact, black rubber float. As the float rises and falls on the pole a series of reed switches are activated inside the pole, which when linked to a gauge accurately displays the current level in your tank.
How do I fit it? These senders have a 1 1/4″ BSP thread so can easily be screwed into your tank top. The sender comes with two rubber o-rings to give a watertight seal. If your tank doesn’t have a 1 1/4″ BSP socket then you can still fit these senders. We offer a range a fitting flanges designed to enable you to fit these senders to tanks which have a standard 5 or 6 hole screw pattern.
Why choose a Wema pole sender instead of a cheaper float arm style sender? Wema pole senders are more precise than float arm style senders as the black sensor rises and falls on the pole with the level of the tank. A cheaper float arm style sender may give false readings if it becomes caught on other parts of the tanks.
What size sender unit do I need? It is important that you fit a sender unit that sits just off the bottom of the deepest part of your tank. This will make sure you get a precise read out. The pole must be away from other internal parts of the tank such as baffles or pick up pipes, and should be a couple of centimetres off the bottom. So measure the depth of your tank and then select the length of sender that is closest size to that (if in any doubt choose a slightly shorter one). Other lengths are available to order so contact us if you need a specific length that is not listed here.
What gauges can I use these senders with? You can use these senders with the Wema black water toilet gauges stocked in our store or any other make of gauge that has a resistance of 240-30 ohms. Other resistance settings are available the most common of which is the standard European gauge setting of 0-190 ohms. Contact us if you require this setting or would like a quote for a bespoke sender unit to be produced.
